Candida Remedies

In order to treat Candida it is essential to understand the precise meaning of this particular skin disease. Candida is yeast like imperfect fungi and is normally present on the skin and in the mucous membranes of the mouth, intestinal tract, and vagina. It may in some cases and under particular conditions become pathogenic. This in effect, is a skin disease, which in some cases can turn contagious.

Treatment Required:

A number of anti-fungal medicines have been prescribed to treat Candidiasis, including Amphotericin B, fluconazole, nystatin and ketoconazole. However they are also accompanied with some side effects. There are a number of herbal remedies, which have found to be effective in the treatment of Candida. The following are some of them:

Cymbopogon citratus (lemon grass): This herb is known to stimulate and activate the process of cell regeneration in order to treat intestinal infections, as well as pathogenic intestinal flora such as Candida albicans. This herb is known to have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which help repair intestinal walls damaged by Candida overgrowth.

Calendula officinalis: This herb has strong anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It is an effective liver tonic contributing to the overall systemic functioning and aids in the removal of toxins from the body.

Tabebuia impetiginosa (Pau d’arco bark): This herb contains ingredients such as Lapachol and beta-lapachone, better known as naphthaquinones. Experiments carried on have demonstrated that both Lapachol and beta-lapachone have anti-fungal properties that combat Candida. These include ketoconazole, commonly used in the treatment of yeast infections. Pau D’arco is insoluble in water and should preferably be taken in a form where the active ingredients have been extracted medicinally in pharmaceutical ethanol. In order to avoid any unwanted side effects it is imperative that the whole bark is used in the extraction process.

These are just some of the remedies that can be used in the fight against Candida. These herbs should be administered along with adequate alternative medicines, under medical supervision in order to obtain optimal benefits and eradicate Candida.
