For example, the use of stomach settling liquids may help your indigestion – one major cause of intermittent mouth odor – but at the same time they serve to coat the tongue and tissues, trapping odor causing bacteria.
If you must take such medications, consider using caplets that may be swallowed whole with water. Even as the effect may not be felt going down, bad breath because of their consistency is also not a problem. Last but not least, do not keep your stomach empty. Sometimes it is the accumulation of gastric acids in the stomach that cause a most unbecoming smell, and rather than attempting to mask the scent, it is advisable to eat a basically bland snack consisting of crackers or rice cakes to at least fill up and give the gastric acids a function that prevents them from causing the upset in the mouth.
